Benjo Verge, LLC

Benjo Verge is a Production Designer and Media Specialist from Nashville, TN but is currently based in Tuscaloosa, AL.  He is 2023 graduate of the Master of Fine Arts in Technical Theatre and Design specializing in Sound/Lighting Design from The University of Alabama and a current Master of Art Candidate in Journalism & Creative Media with a concentration in Sports Media . During his first year at University of Alabama, Benjo participated on four production teams during the school year. He was the Assistant Sound Designer & Videographer for Merchant of Venice (2020),Sound Designer & Sound Board Operator for Shooting Star (2020), Sound Designer & Photographer for Antigone (2021), and Assistant Sound Designer & Photographer for Spring Awakening (2021). During his second year, Benjo participated on five production teams during the school year. He was the Production Electrician for Pipeline (2021), Assistant Sound Designer for Pippin (2021), Sound Designer & Photographer & Production Electrician for Baskerville: A Sherlock Holmes Mystery (2022), Sound Designer & Photographer & Production Electrician & Lighting Designer & Technical Director for Dai’sla-Hello Friend (2022), and Sound Designer & Photographer & Production Electrician & Lighting Designer for The Flick (2022). During his third year, he was the Sound Designer & Production Electrician & Photographer for Imaginary Invalid(2022),Lighting Designer & Photographer for Dance Alabama! Fall 2022  (2022). Sound Designer & Photographer for Murder Ballad (2023), and Sound Designer & Lighting Designer & Photographer for Dance Alabama! Spring 2023  (2023).

He is a graduate of The Alabama State University where he received a Bachelor of Science in Psychology with a minor in Technical Theater. During his four years at ASU, he worked as a Assistant Technical Director on four Alabama State University Theater Department productions. Also, he was Sound Designer for three “One Acts”, which are productions directed by graduating seniors, and acted in one of the “One Acts”. 

After graduating from Alabama State University in 2016, Benjo decided to enroll at Auburn University at Montgomery to further his education. In December 2019, he graduated with his Master of Public Administration with a concentration in Nonprofit Management and Leadership with a specialization in Higher Education.

Benjo is a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc. (Beta Zeta Chapter), Delta Gamma Phi Theater Fraternity Inc. (Alpha Chapter),United States Institute for Theatre Technology (USITT), International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE): Local 78, Educational Theatre Association (EdTA), Southeastern Theatre Conference (SETC), The Black Theatre Network (BTN), Theatre Communications Group-ARTSEARCH, Theatrical Sound Designers & Composers (TSDCA), American Association of Community Theatre (AACT), and National Drama Association of Trinidad and Tobago (NDATT), Crimson Stage, UA Theatre Alliance, and the National Sports Media Association.

He is a football fanatic, loves anime, and a drinking water connoisseur. Also, Benjo is the owner of two six-year old male cats, Kole Jay and Kilo. He describes his highest honor as being a father to his two kids, Katori and Dominic. They drive his passion and seeing them smile is all the inspiration that he will ever need.
